Bhubaneswar : The three-day long 14th Guru Debaprasad Award Festival organized by Tridhara began at Rabindra Mandap here on February 13.
After the customary lighting lamp ceremony, the guests presented Lifetime Achievement Award to Bhajan Samrat Padma Shri awardee Pandit Anup Jalota for his life time contribution in the field of Indian Classical Music.
The first presentation of the inaugural evening was ‘Sankhipta Ramayan’, an Odissi dance drama, presented by the senior students of Tridhara. the cultural evening started. The dance was choreographed by Guru Gajendra Kumar Panda and music by Guru Pandit Haramohan Khuntia. The dancers of Tridhara were marked by fluid grace, immaculate body movements with amazing precision and charming gestures and postures during the dance drama.
Next came Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota to take the audience to a new world. He presented some of his popular bhajans including Aisi lagi lagan, Ram charan sukhdai, Jag mein sundar hai do naam. He was accompanied by Pandit Prosenjit Poddar on Tabla, Prof Jawahar Mishra on Flute, Pandit Ramlal Mishra on Sarangi, Koushik Mukherjee on Keyboard and Arindam Ghosh on Guitar.

The art connoisseurs of the capital city enjoyed the evening to the fullest. In fact, Tridhara’s was the first dance and musical program to be conducted at Rabindra Mandap after a long gap of around 11 months since outbreak of the pandemic.
The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Suresh Chandra Panda, Former Secretary, Government of India; Dhirendra Kumar Mishra, Principal Income Tax Commissioner; Niranjan Rath, Secretary, Loka Sevaka Mandal and Publisher, The Samaj; Nishikanta Mishra, CMD, Team Admark; Dr. Iti Samanta, Editor, Kadmbini; Simanchala Panda, Working President, Tridhara and Guru Gajendra Kumar Panda, Director, Tridhara. The programme was anchored by Dr. En. Srinivas Ghatuari.
