Bhubaneswar: The 14th edition of Nrutya Manjari Mahotsav was organised at Bhanjakala Mandap in Bhubaneswar on November 19.
The festival was organised by Sai Kala Sansad, a Bhubaneswar based institution. It imparts training on Odissi dance, music and art.
After the auspicious lighting the lamp ceremony, attended by Minister Ashok Chandra Panda as the chief guest, award giving ceremony was held.
While chief executive of GKCM Odissi Research Centre Dr Sikata Das and Odissi Veena exponent K Rama Rao Patra were felicitated with ‘Kala Samman’, journalist Hara Prasad Mohapatra, journalist Choudhary Amitabh Das, Guru Chitrasen Swain, social worker Ram Chandra Mallick, singer Dr Jayshree Dhal and singer Debasmita Samal were honoured with ‘Preeti Upahar’ Samman.
The cultural evening witnessed some scintillating performances. Guru Smt Pushpanjali Nayak, who is the secretary of Sai Kala Sansad, and her students presented ‘Sadaripu’, dancers of Aradhana Dance Group performed Gotipua dance, dancers of Sai Kala Sansad presented ‘Batu’ and an abhinaya ‘Dekhago…’.
The art lovers remained glued to their seats till the last item.
