Bhubaneswar: This year ‘Buddha Samman’ will be given to noted Odissi vocalist Pandit Gopal Chandra Panda, informed secretary, Orissa Dance Academy, Odissi dancer Padma Shri Aruna Mohanty.
Pandit Gopal Chandra Panda will be felicitated at the 17th edition of Dhauli-Kalinga Mahotsav, which is all set to begin from February 6 to 8. The festival is jointly organised by Odisha Tourism department and Orissa Dance Academy in association with Art Vision at the foothills of Dhauli Shanti Vihar.
Instituted by ODA for last 14 years, ‘Buddha Samman’ carries a purse of Rs 1 lakh, a citation and a shawl.
On this occasion, Gangadhar Pradhan Smruti Samman will be given to four personalities from different fields. The recipients are Karnatic veena player K Rama Rao Patra, Odissi dancer Snehaprava Samantray, dance critic Shyamahari Chakra and sound designer and music arranger Late Tarakanta Panda. The award, which was instituted in the memory of ODA founder Guru Gangadhar Pradhan in 2016, carries a purse of Rs25,000, a citation and a shawl.
As many as 300 artistes from different disciplines will participate in the festival.
