22nd Bharat Rang Mahotsav-2022: 5 plays in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of India’s 75 years of Independence, National School of Drama, New Delhi, is organising Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav-22nd Bharat Rang Mahotsav-2022 (Azadi Segment) from July 16 to August 14.

As a part this Mahotsav, five plays of three different languages like Odia, Bengali and Assamese will be staged at KIIT Campus 6 Auditorium, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Patia, Bhubaneswar, starting July 21.

The first play will be an Odia play titled ‘Mahasangramara Mahanayak’, staged by Bhubaneswar-based theatre group Satabdira Kalakar, written by Biswabhusan Harichandan, directed by Dhira Mallick.

On the second evening, July 22, a theatre group from Assam, Chifung The Artist, will stage ‘Theng Fakhri’, written by Pranab Kumar Barman and directed by Pari Sarania.

On the third evening, a Bengali play titled ‘Aguner Pareshmoni’ will be staged by artists of a Kolkata based theatre group, Dolls Theatre, written and directed by Sudip Gupta.

On the fourth evening, an Assamese play titled ‘Phulaguri Dhewa’ will be staged by Abhinaswar Goshti, a theatre group from Nagaon, Assam. While the play is written by Sarada Kanta Bordaloi, it is directed by Dipak Bora.

The fifth and last play will be an Odia play titled ‘Gandhinka Odisha’, staged by Newquest Repertory, a theatre group from Rourkela, Sundargarh, written by Shankar Tripathi and directed by Nalini Nihar Nayak.

The entry to the auditorium is free.
