New Delhi: A five-day-long art exhibition, organised by Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi, was inaugurated at India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on August 22.
The exhibition was inaugurated by additional chief secretary, Odia Language, Literature and Culture department, Madhusudan Padhi. It showcases artworks of tribal artists of Odisha. Padhi lauded the effort of Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi to bring the tribal artists into the mainstream.
Eminent sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik, who is also the president of Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi, said, “For the first time the Akademi had organised a camp and an exhibition of artworks of Odisha’s tribal artists in Bangalore in last July. Now, it is in New Delhi. This is the effort of the Akademi to honour the creativity of the tribal artists.”
As many as 40 paintings including Saura painting associated with Odisha’s Saura tribals are on display.
The participating artists depict nature, animals, their lifestyle, cultural traditions, festivals, crop harvesting etc in their works.
The exhibition will continue till August 26.
