2nd International Dance and Music Festival held in Gajapati

Paralakhemundi: Shree Jagannath Odissi Kala Kendra, an institution imparting training on Mahari, Odissi and Folk dances based in Paralakhemundi in Gajapati, organised 2nd International Dance and Music Festival at the town hall in Paralakhemundi on November 2.

After the customary lighting the lamp ceremony, the felicitation ceremony started. Kishore Chandra Rath, Narasingha Prasad Padhi, Manoj Kumar Padhi, I Manmath Rao and Bishnumohan Adhikari were felicitated for their contribution to the society in the field of sports, music, theatre, musical instrument and literature respectively.

On this occasion, Guru Dr Gajendra Panda was felicitated by the institution’s students and Guru Pujan was performed.

While the festival was presided by the institution’s advisor Adarsha Das, chairperson of Parla Municipality Council Nirmala Sethi inaugurated it.

The festival was attended by Sub-Collector Alok Pradhan as chief guest, Guru Dr Gajendra Panda, Raghunath Patra and district culture officer Archana Mangaraj attended as guests.

The guests heaped praise on the institution’s dance director cum secretary D Priyanka for organizing such a beautiful festival.

Among others, host institution’s president Bichitrananda Bebarta and convenor D Mohan Rao were present.

The cultural evening witnessed some scintillating performances presented by Odissi dancer Padma Shri recipient Ramli Ibrahim’s disciples from Malaysia. Later, host institution’s senior and junior students performed Odissi and Folk dances. Odissi music recitals by Batagopal Tripathi and troupe from Puri left the audience hooked to their seats.
