Kalinga Natya Sangha celebrates World Theatre Day in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of World Theatre Day, Kalinga Natya Sangha, Odisha organised day-long activities at Bhanjakala Mandap on March 27.

In the morning, a seminar on the topic Odia Theatre in Present Time was held. Theatre personalities like Nabin Parida, Narendra Mishra, Satyabrata Raut and Narayan Sahoo shared their views. Kalinga Natya Sangha president Dhirendra Nath Mallick presided over the seminar.

In the afternoon, a street play ‘Mankada Ubacha’ was performed by Chakradhar Tripathy. The play was directed by Shatrughan Samal.

In the evening, after the customary lighting the lamp ceremony attended by guests like secretary of Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Prabodh Rath and playwright Ramesh Prasad Panigrahi, a book titled ‘Sindura Phatibara Bela’, written by playwright Bhabagrahi Dash and published by Bijayinee Publications was released. Thereafter, a play titled ‘Gotie Bruta Ankibara Sahaja Pranali’ (An easy way to draw a circle), written by Ramesh Prasad Panigrahi was staged. The play was directed by Prashant Mohapatra.

With their powerful portraying of characters, the artistes left the audience hooked to their seats till the last scene.
