Pradyumna Sahu’s book ‘Amar Bhashar Jude Nat’ released in Odisha’s Subarnapur

Subarnapur: Noted playwright, actor and director Pradyumna Sahu’s play compilation ‘Amar Bhashar Jude Nat’ (Two plays in our language) was recently released at a function organised by Nodal Association for Ameture Theatre (NAAT), a theatre organisation at DRDA conference hall here.

The book of two plays namely ‘Kuili’ and ‘Ulta Bharat ‘ was released in the presence of noted personalities like poet Arttatrana Babu, member of Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Natyashree Gadadhar Barik, president of Mahanadi Sahitya Sansad Shyamaom Prasad Mishra, representative of Bolangir Lok Sabha MP Sarat Satpathy, printer Gatikrushna Bania and publisher Sabita Sahu.

The function was held under the chairmanship of social activist Gouri Shyam Panda.

While addressing, the invited guests said the book would go a long way in enriching the the theatre literature world.

Later, a seminar on the topic ‘Status of Drama Stage in Subarnapur and Impulses’ was held where the participants expressed their concerns about even the district headquarters not having an auditorium.

The national theatre festival organised by NAAT has been discontinued for the last some years as the only auditorium Bhimabhoi Kalamandap was pulled down, they observed.

For the development of theatre activities in the district, there is an urgent need of political will power and motivation from the art lovers and district administration, they observed.

Among others, retired professor Santosh Padhi, Purushottam Panigrahi, Sourav Ranjan Khamari, Umakant Nag, Ranjita Panda, Ashish Mishra, Abinash Hota, Sanjay Panda, Samir Sahu, Plaban Mohapatra and Sridhar Bagh attended the function.
