15th Biswa Odissi Utsav: 2nd day showcases promising young talents

Bhubaneswar: The 15th Annual Biswa Odissi Utsav 2024 organised by Samskritiki Cultural Society in association with Odissi International Forum, a global network of Odissi dancers and Odissi dance institutions and supported by the Department of Odia language, Literature and Culture of Odisha Government entered into 2nd day.

The second day of 15th Annual Biswa Odissi Utsav 2024 showcased International Odissi Prativa Talent Search Sessions.

Morning Session showcased under 10 category dancers like Anusha Prasad of Bhubaneswar, Anaisha Jena of Bhubaneswar, Poorvi Tia Rath of Bhubaneswar, Aadya Additri Panda of Mumbai, Aurora Chakraborty of West Bengal and Hridya Das of Bengaluru.

Under 20 category dancers were Sanika Patra of Bhubaneswar, Rupsa De Roy of West Bengal, Shaivi Shiv of Guwahati, Devishi VS of Bengaluru, Anubha Abhilipsa of Rajgangpur, Debatri Goswami of Jalpaiguri, Simontini Mani of Jalpaiguri, Anchita Kar of Bhubaneswar and Varija Daga of Ahmedabad.Afternoon Session under 30 category dancers were Subhasmita Subudhi of Bhubaneswar, Juli Nag of Bengaluru, Arati Sahoo of Bhubaneswar, Sahana Sarangi of USA, Anavi Mullick of Bengaluru, Lucrezia Ottoboni of Italy, Akshatha N Tirumale of Bengaluru, Swati Pattanaik (Suravi) of Bhubaneswar.

Afternoon session last presentation was Group Odissi dance by Pradakshina School of Odissi Dance, Cuttack. Their first item was Pallavi set to Raga Vasant and Taala Ekataali followed by Abhinaya Mani Bimane Gobinda set to Raag Shankarabharan and Taala: Khemata.

Evening Session first item was Group Odissi dance by the dancers of Odissi Dance Centre, Bengaluru led by Devjani Sen. Their first item was Rasamanjari Pallavi, the dance choreographed by Smt Devjani Sen and the music composed by Shri Binod Panda followed by Hanuman Chalisa set to Raag Maalika, Taal Maalika. The Dance was choreographed by Smt Devjani Sen, Music Composited by Sri Sukanta Kumar Kundu and Rhythm Composed by Guru Dhaneswar Swain. Next group dance was Mokshya presented by the students of Adruta-RAWA Academy, Bhubaneswar led by Bharat Charan Giri. Next item was another group Odissi dance by Odissi Dance Company, USA led by Aparupa Chatterjee presented Batu set to Raaga-Mohana. Taala – Eka taali, the dance Choreographed by Padmavibhushan Late Guru Shri Kelucharan Mohapatra and Music Composed by Pandit Bhubaneshwar Mishra followed by Navadurga set to Raga-Bhairavi, Tala-Jati, dance choreographed by Guru Shri Ratikanta Mohapatra and music composed by Shri Harihar Panda. Last presentation made by Debadatta Lahiry, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.

The dignitaries who graced the second day function were Shri Ratikanta Mohapatra, Director, Srjan; Shri Dhaneswar Swain, Eminent Mardala Player and Shri Kedar Mishra, Dance Critic. The entire festival is curated, conceptualized, and designed by Shyamahari Chakra, with punctilious programme execution by Sanghamitra Muduli, Sucheta Mishra, Dr. Pampi Poul, Monaswani Mohanty, Dinabandhu Pati and Swadhin Kumar.
