Khordha: Ananya Jugade, a 12-year-old prodigy, has added another feather to her cap after she received ‘Makar Samman 2025’ at recently held Hattakeswar Makar Mahotsav at Atri, Baghmari, Khordha.
Reading in Std 7th at ODM Public School, Patia, Bhubaneswar, Ananya, daughter of Amol Jugade and Sonal Jugade, was selected to receive the award on the basis of her achievements.
At the festival, organised by the Culture Department, Government of Odisha, she received the award from esteemed guests like Rajya Sabha MP Manas Mangaraj, MP Sulata Deo, Begunia MLA Pradip Kumar Sahu and Banki MLA Debi Ranjan Tripathi.
When she came onto the stage, she was welcomed with a wide round of applause. Bestowed with a body and face that an Odissi dancer should have, Ananya didn’t let the audience down and performed up to the expectation. She commenced her recital with ‘Dasavatar’ from Gita Govinda, choreographed by Guru Debaprasad Das and followed it up with an abhinaya ‘Lalita Labanga Lata’, directed by Guru Smt Sonali Mohapatra.
Worth mentioning, Ananya is presently receiving her Odissi dance training from Guru Smt Mohapatra.
Her both items proved not only her dedication towards Odissi dance but also the quality of training Guru Smt Mohapatra is imparting.
Her graceful body movements was tremendous. Her both items were a treat for both trained and untrained eyes.
At such a tender age, Ananya has many other achievements to her credit. To name a few, Junior Scholarship in Odissi dance from CCRT, Government of India, winner of ‘Debadasi Season 3’, a reality show telecast on Siddharth TV, ‘Nritya Bhushan Award‘, ‘Nritya Kalabhyshan Award’ and ‘Natya Vikasa Award’.
Besides being a good dancer, she also excels in academics as well. She is an all rounder and has received awards in essay writing , debate, recitation and role plays as well.
It won’t be an exaggeration to say that Ananya has a long and bright future ahead in her chosen art form.
