Sambhabana celebrates ‘Raja Festival’ with cultural fervour in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of the Raja festival’s first day, Bhubaneswar witnessed a vibrant celebration of Odia culture and tradition as ‘Raja Mouja’ was observed at Geet Govinda Sadan in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

The event was organized by Sambhabana Odianee Samiti, bringing together Odianee members to showcase their talents through self-composed poetry and music.

The festivities featured a range of cultural delights. While Bandita Das, Dr. Swarnalata Tripathy, Dr. Ritanjali Mishra, and Dr. Sujata Mohanty mesmerized the audience with their poetic renditions, Odianees namely Padmalaya Satpathy, Rekha Sahu, Meenakshi Pattnaik, and others performed traditional Odia Raja song “Banaste Dakila Gaja” in chorus.

Similarly, Bijaylaxmi Pati rendered the melodious song ‘Megha Barashila Tupuru Tupuru’ and Jyostna Senapati, Nibedita Mallick, Soudamini Samal, Smruti Mohanty, presented ‘Aa Khilipana Banaku Jiba’.

The event showcased traditional Odia songs, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Odisha.

The event was graced by notable guests, including renowned linguistic Padma Shri recipient Dr. Debi Prasanna Pattnaik, chartered accountant Rajiv Sekhar Sahu, best Odisnee of 2025, Rita Shankhua, social worker Kasturika Pattnaik. Sambhabana’s chairman Sarat Chandra Bhadra, secretary Deba Prasad Parija, Odianee Samiti’s chairperson Soudamini Samal and secretary Rekha Sahu were also present.

The event was successfully organized by Sambhabana, with Smruti Mohanty at the helm and Meenakshi Pattnaik, Prafulla De, and Rashmita Rath playing key roles in making the event a grand success.

The event brought together people from all walks of life to experience the rich cultural diversity of Odisha.
