Bhubaneswar: The three-day-long Shree Jagannath Bhakti Sangeet Samaroh – Guhari 2025 began at Utkal Rangamanch on the premises of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre on Tuesday.
The festival is organised by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Center under the auspices of the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture.
Prominent singers from across the state are participating in this three-day music festival. The main purpose of organizing the festival during the holy Ratha Yatra is to bring Shree Jagannath’s devotional music to the attention of the people and spread it.
The inaugural evening’s guests were Prof. Prafulla Kumar Mishra, Sanskrit Scholar; Pranati Patra, Joint Secretary, SC & ST Development Department, Debjani Bhunya, Deputy Director, Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture and Anuja Tarini Mishra, Administrative Officer, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre.
The evening opened with a chorus performance by the students of the GKCM Odissi Research Centre. The first evening featured singers such as Dukhishyam Tripathy, Susmita Dash, Laxmikanta Palit, Bhagyashree Mohanty, Bishnumohan Kabi and Sanju Mohanty. They were accompanied by Monaranjan Adhikari on the Tabla, Sandeep Sahu on the Drum, Jabahar Mishra on the Flute, Samuyel Khuntia on the Octopad, Subrat Routray on the Keyboard and Ajay Kumar Dash on the Harmonium.
The music performance of the artistes based on Shree Jagannath was quite impressive and was well received by the audience.
The programme was anchored by Dr. Mrutunjaya Rath.
Notably, the Guhari programme was streamed live on the GKCM Odissi Research Centre YouTube channel.
