From Dance to Celluloid
Ahmedabad: Celebrated Odissi danseuse and choreographer Dr. Suprava Mishra has added yet another feather to her cap with her short fiction film ‘Shri Radha’ being officially nominated for the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) 2026.
The prestigious festival will be held from February 13 to 15, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, bringing together filmmakers from across the globe.
Out of an overwhelming 567 film entries from 51 countries, only 119 films from 29 countries have made it to the final official selection—placing ‘Shri Radha’ in rarefied company and underlining its artistic merit.
Produced by Dr Suprava Mishra and scripted and directed by Archana Chandrashekar, ‘Shri Radha’ carrying the evocative tagline ‘The Endless Possibilities of Love’ is a lyrical exploration of womanhood inspired by the poems of Padma Bhushan Shri Ramakant Rath.
A senior fellowship holder from the Government of India, Dr Mishra recently hit headlines as her book ‘Gujarat Ke Jal Mandiro Men Sanskritik Virasat’ was selected for the Gujarat Sahitya Akademi Award.

The film unfolds through Radha’s inner world after she receives the message of Krishna’s death, as her memories flow seamlessly from his birth to his departure, forming a poignant tapestry of love, longing, and self-realisation.
Rendered through a deeply expressive classical Odissi dance recital performed by Dr. Mishra herself, the narrative brings Rath’s writings to life in movement and expression. The film traces Krishna’s wanderings through Radha’s psyche-her lifelong wait for Krishna, the thrill of his first touch, the emotional sensations experienced during the boat ride, and the impact of all this on her mind. In doing so, it mirrors the audience’s own reflections on love, memory, and the eternal search for the divine.
The nomination places ‘Shri Radha’ on an international pedestal, spotlighting Dr. Mishra not only as a distinguished classical dancer but also as a compelling storyteller in the cinematic medium.
It marks a significant cross-disciplinary achievement and a proud moment for Odissi and Odisha’s cultural heritage on the global film circuit.
The film features Dr. Suprava Mishra as Radha and Sunil Oza as Ramakanta Rath, with performances by students of Aum Arts Dance Academy, including Falguni Hiren, Sucharita Tripathy, Priyanka Pati, Shradha Gupta, Prapti Pandya Shah, Prakruti Pandya, Punyatoya Tripathy, Vrunda Rawal, Nishtha Vasavada, Prachi Pati, Indrani Banerjee, and Kinnari Chande.
The technical and creative team includes Siddharth Kathir (Cinematography), Vedant Chaturvedi (Editing), Koushik Tamilmaran (Animation & VFX), Kirit Rajpara (Music Composer), with vocals by Vikash Parikh and instrumental support from noted musicians on flute, violin, tabla, sitar, and rhythm.
Choreography is by Dr. Suprava Mishra, while costumes were crafted in Cuttack, staying true to Odissi tradition.
Founder of Aum Arts Dance Academy, Ahmedabad, Dr. Mishra began her Odissi journey at the tender age of six. With an impressive academic background—M.Sc. in Physics, MBA in Marketing, and a Doctorate in Dance—she embodies the rare blend of intellect and artistry.
Trained under legendary gurus Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and Guru Shudhakar Sahu, she has imbibed both the technical finesse and spiritual depth of the form.
A Doordarshan-graded artiste, Dr. Mishra is a recipient of the Gujarat Gaurav Award (2013) for Lifetime Achievement in Odissi Dance and the Indira Gandhi Rajbhasha Award (2014), presented by then President Pranab Mukherjee for her Hindi book ‘Odissi Nrutya Aur Bharatiya Sanskruti’. Her performances have graced prestigious platforms including the Konark Festival, Khajuraho Dance Festival, Chakradhar Samaroh, Debadhara Festival, and many others across the country.
With ‘Shri Radha’ earning recognition at JIFF 2026, Dr. Suprava Mishra once again proves that when classical art meets contemporary vision, the result can truly set the global stage alight.
