Bhubaneswar: The auspicious ‘muhurat’ ceremony of Odia film “Na Baya” (Nine Mad Men) was held at the premises of Shri Shri Sankata Mochana Hanuman Temple near CRP Square in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

Produced under the banner of DM Films, the film’s producer is Debashish Mohanty and its story, screenplay, dialogues and direction of “Na Baya” have been handled by Niranjan Behera.

According to the production house, the film is an out-and-out comedy film which will leave audience rolling in the aisles. Much like director Niranjan Behera’s earlier ventures, “Na Baya” is rooted in an original storyline. Packed with comedy, drama and emotional moments, the film also carries a meaningful social message.

One of the major highlights of the movie is its title track, which has been sung by nine singers-Bishnu, Satyajit, Tariq, Sangram, Vaibhav, Chirag, S. Jitu, James and Antara Chakraborty. The music has been composed by Bishnu Mohan Kabi.

True to its quirky title, the film’s plot revolves around nine eccentric characters — a teacher, politician, singer, lover, thief, possessed man, drunkard and jatra artiste-each driven to madness by life’s circumstances. However, the biggest mystery remains: who exactly is the ninth “mad man”?

All nine men are deeply in love with Dr. Abhilipsa Das, but who ultimately wins her heart and marries her forms the crux of the story.

Aman plays the male lead, while Manisha and Debasmita essay the female lead roles. The film also features Choudhury Jayaprakash Das (Tilu Bhai), Debu Brahma, Kunal, Suman, Prashant, Somu, Bhakti, Gopal, Mitu, Pritiranjan, Smruti (Natia), Debabrata, Danga, Lipsa, Bibhu, Shankar and Manke in pivotal roles.

According to producer Debashish Mohanty, the film will go on the floors from May 18. While the dramatic sequences will be shot across various locations in the state, its songs will be canned at picturesque outdoor destinations beyond the state.
