Bhubaneswar: NRUTYANGANA, an Odissi dance institution in the capital city of Odisha, turns 10. On this occasion, the institution celebrates 10th Odissi Nrutya Sangeet Samman and Award ceremony on February 15 and 16.
Guru Subash Chandra Swain, the founder of the institution, announced the recipients of the awards for the year 2019-20. Noted Odissi dancer Dr Snehaprava Samantray will receive 10th Odissi Nrutya Sangeet Samman. The institution has been felicitating journalists/photo journalists for their contribution in promoting the art and culture. This year, Piusha Mohanty, a photo journalist and cultural activist, will be felicitated.
The celebration is a two-day event. The institution will conduct some competitions and observe in house performances at its campus located at Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar on February 15. The next day, the award giving ceremony will be held at Bhanjakala Mandap from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
After felicitation ceremony, there will be an array of aesthetically chosen cultural programmes. Besides Odissi recitals by the institution’s own students, Guru Sudarshan Ray and Group presents Gotipua dance, Saswati Sahoo and Group presents Sambalpuri dance and Kaberi Priyadarshini and Group presents Bihu dance. And there will be some semi classical dance items to be presented by NRUTYANGANA’s students.
Among the guests who have given their consent to grace the occasion are MP Padma Bhushan awardee Raghunath Mohapatra, poem and short story writer Dr. Indira Dutta, principal, Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Dr. Tamasharani Das Mohapatra, principal, Apeejay School, Bhubaneswar, Dr. Sasmita Tripathy, senior news editor, The New Indian Express, Kasturi Ray and eminent Odissi dancer Sanghamitra Singh.
