18th National Theatre Festival Canfest-2021 to begin from March 5

Paradip: 18th National Theatre Festival Canfest-2021 is all set to begin from March 5 at Jayadev Sadan here.

This five-day-long theatre festival will witness staging of one Odia play, one Bengali play and three Hindi plays.

The inaugural play will be ‘Nagin Tera Vansh Badhe’, a Hindi play by Actors’ Repertory Theatre, New Delhi. Well known theatre personality Avtar Sahni is its director.

The second evening’s play is also a Hindi play titled ‘Charulata’ and directed by Abhaya Sinha. A Patna based theatre group Prangan will stage the play.

An Odia play ‘Abhinetri’, directed by Debabrata Pattanayak, will be staged on the third evening. The group is Dynamic Platform, Bhubaneswar.

The third Hindi play of this year’s festival will be ‘Nepathya Mein Shakuntala’. While Manoj Nair is its director, a Bhopal based theatre organisation Shadow Theatre will present the play.

On the concluding evening, a Bengali play ‘Tithineer’ will be staged. Sudrak, a Kolkata based theatre organisation will stage the play. Debasish Mazumder is its director.

The plays will be staged at 7:00 am every evening.
