Bhubaneswar: Eminent Odia Film directors Sabyasachi Mohapatra and Ashutosh Pattanayak were honoured with ‘Cine Critic Samman’ at Buddha Mandir here April 28.
Odisha Cine Critic Association celebrates April 28 as ‘Seeta Bibaha Diwas’ every year. ‘Seeta Bibaha’, directed by late Mohan Sundar Deb Goswami, was the first Odia talkie. It was released at Laxmi Talkies in Puri district on April 28, 1936.
This memorable day is observed every year as ‘Seeta Bibaha’ Diwas’ by Odisha Cine Critic Association. This year the celebration was a low key affair due to prevailing pandemic condition and it was observed at Buddha Mandir.
On this occasion, eminent directors Sabyasachi Mohapatra and Ashutosh Pattanayak were felicitated with ‘Cine Critic Samman’.
Sabyasachi Mohapatra and Ashutosh Pattanayak this year bagged National Film Awards for their films ‘Sala Budhwar Badla’ and ‘Srikshetra Ru Sahijata’ respectively.
Among others, president, Odisha Cine Critic Association Pradosh Pattanayak, secretary Dillip Hali and secretary, Mahadodhi Society Souren Mohapatra were present at the event.
