Bhubaneswar: Noted Odia playback singer Tapu Mishra passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here on Saturday.
She tested positive for COVID-19 and was in home isolation. Later her condition deteriorated and she was rushed to a private hospital May 19. She was immediately wheeled into the ICU.
As her condition improved, she was taken out of the ICU. However, she had to be admitted to the ICU again on June 16.
While efforts were on to airlift the singer, her oxygen level gradually decreased, leading to cardiac arrest.
It is worth mentioning that her father had passed away May 10 while undergoing treatment for COVID-19.
Her untimely demise saddened the entire Odia film industry.
Mishra made her debut in film ‘Kula Nandan’ at the age of just 16. She lent her voice in more than 150 Odia movies. She also rendered her voice in Bengali movies.
