Guru Debaprasad Award Festival concludes, Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia felicitated

Bhubaneswar: Two-day long 15th Guru Debaprasad Award Festival organised by Tridhara at Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar came to an end on March 29.

The customary lighting the lamp ceremony was followed by the award giving ceremony.

The prestigious Guru Debaprasad Lifetime Achievement Award 2021 was presented to eminent flute maestro Padma Bibhusan Pandit Hariprasad Chourasia.

Guru Debaprasad Award 2021 was  presented to Padma Shree Ramli Ibrahim of Malaysia for invaluable contribution in the field of Odissi dance, Bidushi Saswati Sen, noted Kathak danseuse and Guru Sadashiva Pradhan in the field of Chhau dance.

Similarly, Guru Debaprasad Yuva Prativa Award 2021 was presented to Ms. Kaori Naka, Odissi dancer from Japan; Guru Alok Bishoyi, renowned folk artist (Sakhi Nata), Ganjam and Ms. G. Nageswari, Odissi danseuse from Telengana.

The cultural evening began with a scintillating presentation by Odissi guru Ramli Ibrahim and his disciple Geethika Shree. They presented a Mangalacharana Hari-Hara set to Raga Pahadi Darbari and Tala Ekatali.

Next came lissome Kaori Naka, a renowned Odissi dancer from Japan. Her presentation was  The next item was Ardhanariswar.

The following item was a solo Kathak recital by Bidushi Saswati Sen.

The concluding item was Chhau dance by Guru Sadashiva Pradhan and Group.

The emcee of the evening was Dr. En. Srinivas Ghatuari.

The closing ceremony of this grand celebration began with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the esteemed guests – Jyotiprakash Panigrahi, Hon;ble Minister, Tourism and Odia Language, Literature & Culture; Ananta Narayan Jena, Hon’ble MLA, Bhubaneswar Central; Suresh Chandra Panda, Bima Lokpal, Bhubaneswar; Aruna Mohanty, Eminent Odissi Danseuse & President, Odisha Sangita Natak Akademi; Simanchala Panda, Working President, Tridhara and Guru Gajendra Panda, Director, Tridhara.
