New Delhi: The second evening of Anand Utsav at Triveni Kala Sangam in New Delhi featured some brilliant Odissi dancers from Delhi as well as Odisha.

The first performer of the evening was Dr Sonali Pradhan. The abhinaya was based on 15th century Odia poem by Raja Bhramarabara Birabara Rai, the then king of Athagarh in Odisha. With her lyrical body movements, amazing facial expressions and perfect hasta mudras, she did justice to the choreography of living legend Guru Mayadhar Raut. The writer describes how Krishna is dancing with Radha among gopis under Kadamba tree.

Next Dr Priyanka Venkateswaran brought an Ashtapadi YAHI MADHAVA YAHI KESHAVA,from Jayadeva’s Gita Govinda. A surgeon by profession, she proved to be vivacious dancer as well, taking to fragile gestures and crisp footwork, leaving the audience glued to their seats. This Ashtapadi composed by Guru Mayadhar Raut is widely performed by senior dancers all over the world.

Guru Dr Pitambar Biswal was the last performer of the evening. His choice for SATE KI BHANGI KALA was delightful. In this piece of abhinaya, Radha describes about the mischievous Krishna to her sakhi that how she fell into his eyes and his magnetic beauty. In this item, choreographed by Guru Dr Biswal himself, he through his simplicity of pure abhinaya cast a magical spell on the rasikas.
