Bhubaneswar: Eminent journalist and film critic Surya Deo has bagged ‘Best Book on Cinema’ (special mention) award at the National Film Awards, for his book ‘Kali Paini Kalira Cinema’.
The book was published by ‘Pakshighar Prakashanee’.
“Certificate of Merit for the Best Book on Cinema also Known as Special Mention goes to Odisha’s Surya Deo,” said the I&B spokesperson.
According to Deo, the book is an attempt to preserve the heritage of Odia cinema.
Deo has also authored ‘Odia Cinema: Rupa Rupantara’
Notably, Deo is best known for his efforts to screen Odia classic cinema through the series named ‘Smruti Chhaya’. The films are being screened under the banner of the Film Journalists’ Forum (FJF) of Odisha, founded by him.
