Bhubaneswar: The third edition of the Bhubaneswar Film Festival (BFF) is all set to begin at Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, from June 25 to June 28.
A total of 19 award winning films spanning a spectrum of languages, including Odia, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Kannada, Assamese, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam and Dimasa will be screened.
On the inaugural day, Odia films ‘Laxmi’, ‘Lahari’ and ‘Magunira Sagada’ will be screened at 10.00 am, 11.30 am and 2.45 pm respectively. Urdu film ‘White Snow’ will be screened at 4.30 pm, followed by Hindi classic “Do Bigha Zameen’ at 7.15 pm.
On the second day, film lovers can catch Kannada film ‘Kandeelu’ at 10.00 am, Hindi/English film “A Story That Refused To Die’ at 12.00 pm, Hindi film ‘Wo-Man’ at 4.30 pm and Hindi film ‘Bandini’ at 4.30 pm.
The third day features Dimasa film ‘Semkhor’ at 10.00 am, Marathi film ‘Sabar Bonda’ at 11.45 am, Gujarati film ‘Jagat’ at 2.30 pm, Odia film ‘Baida’ at 4.30 pm and Hindi film ‘Sujata’ at 7.15 pm. There will be a panel discussion on ‘Fabrics, Identity and Cinema’ at 6.00 pm.
The opening film of the concluding day will be an Assamese film ‘Juiphool’ at 10.00 am. The following films will be Odia film ‘Lal Odhani’ at 11.45 am, Odia film ‘Aa Akara Aa’ at 2.45 pm, Malayalam film ‘Ullozhukku’ at 4.30 pm and Odia film ‘Amada Bata’ at 7.15 pm.
Adding star power to the festival, renowned Hindi film actor, director, cameraman, makeup artist and art director will conduct four master classes. While celebrated cinematographer Anil Mehta will share insights into the art of cinematography, nationally-acclaimed actor Niraj Kabi will delve into the finer nuances of acting.
Eminent director and screenwriter Saiwyn Quadras will discuss about storytelling and screenwriting, while Divya Gambhir, Nidhi Gambhir and Sukant Panigrahi will speak about costume and production design.
The highlight of the festival will be the interactive sessions where actors and directors of the screened films will engage directly with audiences, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their creative journeys.
Continuing a tradition from previous editions, seven film personalities will be awarded for their lifetime contribution to cinema.
The details were shared during a press conference organized by the Bhubaneswar Film Circle (BFC) at the Press Club, Bhubaneswar. Festival director Sanjay Pattanayak, deputy director Sukant Rath, renowned sound designer and director Subash Sahoo and senior cine journalist Ashok Palit were present on the occasion.
Worth mentioning, entry to all screenings is absolutely free. The film festival committee has invited cine lovers to turn out in large number and make the festival a huge success.
