Bhubaneswar : The three-day-long 12th annual festival of Sufiana and devotional music festival SAMARPAN 2024 organised by Bhubaneswar Music Circle, supported by Odia Language, Literature and Culture department held at Rabindra Mandap here concluded on Wednesday.
The mystic Sufiana and devotional songs presented by Aurosish Pani and Jenab Saleem Hasan Chishti transported the aficionados to a different world .
The concluding evening’s first presentation was Sufi songs of Punjabi, Kashmiri and Pakistani origin (Shaam-e-fariyaad) by Shri Aurosish Pani.
Son and disciple of well-known Hindustani Guru, Dr Chittaranjan Pani, Aurosish rendered some sufi songs and some sufi bhajans wrought by the fakirs or sufis of Punjab, Kashmir and Pakistani was mesmerized the audience. He was accompanied by Roumyaj Pradhan on Keyboard, Rupesh Jeevan on Guitar, Aniket Maharana on Flute and Akash Baral on Tabla.
Aurosish holds a Master’s Degree in Hindustani vocal from Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh along with a Sangeet Visharad from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
The evening’s last presentation was Sufi Qawwali by Jenab Saleem Hasan Chishti and Group. They presented traditional Sufiana Qawwali, Ghazal, Thumri, Bhajan and Classical Bandish. He was ably supported by Jenab Suhali Hasan, Jenab Ayaz and Jenab Fateh Ali on vocal support, Jenab Javed Ali on Tabla, Jenab Shaivan Ali on Dholak and Jenab Nusrat Ali on Banjo.
The second son of great Sufi, folk and Qawwali performer Late Noor Muhammad and Azizal, Saleem Hasan Chishti and group left the audience soaked in mysticism.
The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Sitakant Mahapatra, Indian poet and literary critic; Ananta Mohapatra, Actor and Director; Kulamani Deo, Former D.I.G. of Police; Pandit (Dr) Chitta Ranjan Pani, Renowned Hindustani Singer and Shri Khirod Patnaik, General Secretary Bhubaneswar Music Circle. The programme was compared by Dr. Isha Diwivedi.
