Chittagong: A group of dancers from Odissi and Tagore Dance Movement Center (OTDMC), Chittagong are going to participate in Biswa Odissi Utsav 2023 to be held at Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra ORC Auditorium in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar on December 19.
Abhra Barua, head of media wing of the institution, said in a press release that in the 14th edition of World Odissi classical dance festival, dancers from more than a hundred dance institutions from different countries will participate in it. At the same time, they will also be honoured. Odissi and Tagore Dance Movement Centre is going from Chittagong on to grace the event.
The Institution’s dancers who are going to perform in the festival are – Tushi Sharma, Nibir Das Gupta, Moyukh Sarkar, Arjita Sen Chowdhury, Diya Das Gupta, Maitry Chakraborty and director of OTDMC Proma Abonti.
All the participants are the senior most artistes of OTDMC. In a ground-breaking venture, the Odissi and Tagore Dance Movement Centre in Chittagong;Bangladesh proudly stands as the first-ever Odissi dance institution in Bangladesh.
It was founded in 2000 by eminent Odissi dancer Proma Abonti.
Committed to preserving and propagating the exquisite art of Odissi, this institution is dedicated to fostering a deep appreciation for the dance form not only within the borders of Bangladesh but also beyond.
