Day-long social and cultural programmes planned for senior political leader Sura Routray’s 83rd birthday on August 10

Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and former minister Suresh Kumar Routray, popularly known as ‘Sura Bhai’, will turn 83 on August 10, with the Sura Routray Janma Utsav Committee planning a series of social, religious and cultural programmes across Bhubaneswar and Jatni.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the committee members informed details about the activities planned for August 10.

The celebrations will begin at 5.30 AM with worships and prayers at temples, mosques and churches. Fruits will be distributed at Lingaraj temple, Municipality Hospital and Badheibanka Square at 7.30 AM and at Jatni Railway Hospital and Sandhapur Hospital, Jatni at 8.00 AM.

A blood donation camp has been scheduled at Mausimaa Square at 10.00 AM, followed by a sapling plantation drive at Mausimaa temple premises at 11.00 AM, prasad distribution at the same temple at 12.00 noon.

The celebrations will culminate with cultural programmes at Mausimaa Square at 7.00 PM.

The press meet was attended by Utsav Committee vice president Jaykrushna Malia, treasurer Bishnu Prasad Muduli, Kalu Pati, Saina Mishra, Kedarnath, Jogi Pradhan and Manas Acharya, among other committee members.
