Bhubaneswar: One of the premier Odissi dance and music institutions of the state, Biswanath Sangeetalaya, Cuttack, is all set to hold its 6th Lasya Labanya Dance Festival 2024 at Utkal Rangamanch, on the premises of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre, Bhubaneswar, on November 19 and 20.
Each evening will start at 6.30 pm and will continue till 9 pm.
On the inaugural evening, Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Guru Smt Snehaprava Samantray will be felicitated with Lasya Labanya Lifetime Achievement Award.Thereafter, the host institution Biswanath Sangeetalaya will present a group Odissi dance, led by Guru Dr Dipti Routray. The second item of the evening will be a Bharatnatyam presentation by Arupa Lahiry, from New Delhi. The concluding item of the evening will be a group Odissi dance recital by Guru Pankaj Kumar Pradhan and his students of Odissi Dance Creations.
Similarly, on the second evening, Guru Prafulla Ray Lifetime Achievement Award will be conferred upon Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Guru Niranjan Patra.
The cultural evening will have a duet Kathak dance recital by Vishavdeep and Pradeep Pathak from New Delhi, a duet Odissi dance recital by Shimran Zaman and Kenisha from New Delhi and a group Odissi dance presentation by Guru Swayampragnya Sahoo and her students of Pragnya Nrutyayan.
The entry for the festival is free.
