Bangalore: Nrutyadhara, a premier Odissi dance institution based in Bangalore, is going to organise it’s 6th Nrutyadhara festival at ADA Rangamandira, J C Road in Bangalore on August 28.
The highlight of this year’s festival is that the institution is introducing Nrutyadhara Samman from this year. The first recipient of this Samman will be Guru Subash Chandra Swain, founder of Nrutyangana Dance Academy, informed Guru Smt Prajna Paromita Mishra.
Notably, Nrutyadhara Foundation is Smt Mishra’s brainchild.
Guru Smt Mishra’s Dakshina to her Guru could not be more appropriate. The recipient of the first Nrutyadhara Samman, Guru Swain, is none other than her guru.
She used to be his disciple when she was a child. To be precise, she started learning Odissi dance at the age of 11 from Guru Swain at Nrutyangana Dance Academy, Dhenkanal.
Now, Smt Mishra is a graded artiste of Doordarshan, Bhubaneswar. This apart, she has performed at many prestigious festivals and has received many prestigious awards as well.
The festival will begin at 4.30 pm onwards. There will be a bouquet of performances to entertain and enthrall the art lovers and dance connoisseurs.
Nrutyadhara’s students will present scintillating Odissi dance items. The cultural evening will also witness some excellent recitals by the artistes of Nrutyangana Dance Academy from Bhubaneswar, Andhra Natyam by students of Diksoochi Natyalaya from Gauribidanpur and Kathak by Smt Sanchita Lahoti and team from Bengaluru.
