JAYANTIKA to celebrate living legend Guru Mayadhar Raut’s 90th birthday by observing Anand Utsav

New Delhi: Anand Utsav-a three-day festival, celebrating the 90th birthday of living legend Guru Mayadhar Raut-is all set to enthrall and entertain connoisseurs at Triveni Kala Sangam here in the national capital from March 23.

Organised by JAYANTIKA Mayadhar Raut School of Odissi Dance, the festival, starts at sharp 6:30 pm every day. It brings outstanding talents on one platform making it a great offering for dance and music Rasikas.

The inaugural evening will feature stalwarts from the world of music. There will be Devotional Krithi by Shri Elangovan Govindarajan ji, Sarangi by Ustad Kamal Sabri ji and Dhrupad by Ustad F. Wasifuddin Dagar ji.

The second evening features Odissi Dance performances by eminent danseuses Dr Sonali Pradhan and Dr Priyanka Venkateswaran and Guru Dr Pitambar Biswal.

Similarly, young and talented Nitya Pant, Ankita Nayak and Lucky Mohanty will be there on the concluding evening to mesmerise the audience with some of their signature Odissi Dance recitals.

Jayantika Mayadhar Raut School of Odissi Dance is fortunate to have Smt. Debjani Chakrabarty IAS, Smt. Shashiprabha Tiwari, the well known Arts critic and Yogacharya Shri Ravishankar Bhatt Tejasvi as the Chief-Guests.

Observing the Covid-19 precautionary measures, only 50% seating of the entire seating capacity will be permitted at Triveni Kala Sangam auditorium. Seating will be on First-come-First- served basis. Immense hardwork has gone in organizing the Anand Utsav.

In the times of virtual festivals, JAYANTIKA school has gone ahead to present the festival live for the audience present in person. It will be streamed live on Facebook for those unable to attend.

JAYANTIKA Mayadhar Raut School of Odissi Dance is a premier Odissi dance Institute in the national capital. For the last five decades, under the guidance of Padmashri Guru Mayadhar Raut, the school has preserved and promoted the Guru Shishya Parampara and trained a galaxy of dancers and Gurus in the grammar of Odissi dance.
