Konark Festival 4th evening witnesses scintillating Odissi & Bharatnatyam performances

Konark: The fourth evening of five-day-long Konark Festival on Sunday witnessed Bharatnatyam and Odissi dance recitals presented by Leela Samson and Group of Spandan Dance Company from Chennai and Guru Pitambara Biswal and Group of Suravi from Bhubaneswar respectively.

After the customary lighting the lamp ceremony, Leela Samson and Group presented three Bharatnatyam dance recitals of Tandava Nrityakari Gajanana, Atishaya and Tillana. The rhythm and music composition for the performances were by composer Tirugokaranam Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar and choreography by Leela Samson.  The performances were based on Hindu mythology and vedic concepts of universe.

In the second half of the evening, Guru Pitambar Biswal & Group performed Sunya Brahmanda (The Void Universe) and Mathura Mangala. The music composition for the performance was by Himanshu Sekhar Swain, rhythm composition by Guru Dhaneswar Swain, script by Guru Ramarao Patra and choreography by Guru Dr. Pitambar Biswal.

During the day, sand artists participating in the 12th International Sand Art Festival created spectacular sand sculptures on themes of ‘Indian Culture & Heritage’ and ‘Make in Odisha’ at Chandrabhaga Beach.

ADG Police Modernisation Shri Sanjay Kumar, ADG Prisoner and Correctional Services Shri Diptesh Pattanayak, Vice Chairman BDA Shri Balwant Singh, and Joint Director Tourism Shri Biswajit Routray were among other dignitaries attending the festival.
