New Delhi: Jayantika is all set to host the two-day-long Mamta Raut Dance Festival 2024 at Triveni Kala Sangam Chamber Theatre, Tansen Marg, New Delhi, from 6.30pm onwards on November 29 and 30.
This edition has a bouquet of scintillating performances by some renowned gurus and their disciples. On the first evening, the disciples of Guru Madhumita Raut and young and talented dancer Sekhar Suman Majhi will perform Odissi dance while Shantnu Chakraborty and Utkarsh Shankar Mishra will entertain the art lovers with their Bharatnatyam and Kathak presentations.
Similarly, the second evening will have a group Odissi dance by the disciples of Guru Madhumita Raut, Bharatnatyam by Marie Elangovan, Manipuri by Chetna Wahengbamm and Odissi by Srimant Mishra.
The festival has been curated by Odissi exponent Madhumita Raut in loving memory of her mother(Late) Smt. Mamta Raut, wife of Padma Shri recipient Guru Mayadhar Raut, the doyen of Odissi dance. She had always been very supportive of young dancers.
Guruji Mayadhar Raut, one of the founders of Jayantika will inaugurate the festival.
Notably, Jayantika was founded in Cuttack Odisha in 1959 to codify and resurrect Odissi dance
