Manana’s theatre festival to begin from Jan 4

Bhubaneswar based Manana Natya Sanstha, one of the premier theatre groups in Odisha, will hold its 43rd Foundation Day Drama Festival 2022 at Rabindra Mandap from January 4 to January 8, from 6:30pm onwards.

Manana will felicitate some eminent personalities.

For life time achievement, Ramachandra Bhola will receive Manana Samman. Somen Pujari will be felicitated with Bana Bihari Patnaik Samman. Ratiranjan Samman will be conferred upon Prof Dr Samar Mudali. Brajendra Naik and Dr Smt. Leepika Mishra will be felicitated with Gopal Chandra Patnaik Samman and Chandra Sekhar Nanda Samman respectively.

They apart, some well known personalities will be felicitated with ‘Manana Samman’. They are Ramakanta Mohapatra, Dr Prasanna Mishra, Kailash Panigrahi, Prashant Mohapatra and Bikram Kumar Sahu.

Similarly, journalists including Sashmita Sahu, Bandana Sethi, Sanatan Barik and Pritam Sahu will also be felicitated at the festival.

The five-day-long festival will see five different plays of different tastes.

Bhubaneswar based Jeevan Rekha theatre organization will stage ‘Chithi’ on January 4. The play is written by Chinmayee Sarangi and directed by Abhinna Routray.

On the second evening (January 5), Bidyakanak Srujananusthan of Bhubaneswar will present ‘Alia Bhitare Kalia’, written by Dillip Balabantaray and directed by Jagdish Prasad Maharana.

Bhubaneswar based theatre group Swetapadma Natyaghara will present ‘Samaya Ra Khela’, written and directed by Pradeep Biswal on January 6.

Mirror Theatre (Belpahar) will stage ULPI on January 7. The play is written and directed by Subash Chandra Pradhan.

On the concluding evening (January 8), Dhenkanal based theatre group Alternative Rhythm Theatre will stage ‘Maya’, written and directed by Dinesh Das.
