Mokshya’s ‘Abhilasaa’ festival held in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The eleventh edition of ‘Abhilasaa’, a festival of Odissi dance group choreography, was held at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

Organized by Mokshya, a Bhubaneswar-based Odissi dance institution established by Guru Dr Sujata Mishra, the evening witnessed as many as ten group performances.

The event was inaugurated in the august presence of distinguished guests-Guru Dhaneswar Swain, Guru Niranjan Rout, Guru Jyoti Rout and Guru Gayatri Chand.After the lighting the lamp ceremony, the art lovers were treated with scintillating performances.

The artistes of Swayamshree Nrutyanusthan, Talcher, invoked divine energy with ‘Mahakali Mangalacharan’ while the dancers of Avantika Academy, Bhubaneswar, enthralled the audience with ‘Ganga Taranga’.

The evening also witnessed artistes of Nrutyashree from Karanjia showcasing ‘Sthayee’, and Tridhara, Bhubaneswar, captivating viewers with a fiery rendition of ‘Durga Tandav’.

Adding more flavour to the evening, the dancers of Jyoti Kala Mandir, Bhubaneswar, performed a powerful ‘Shiv Tandav’, while Satarupa Odissi Research Centre, Dhenkanal, offered ‘Om Namah Shivay’.

Similarly, the dancers of the host institution ‘Mokshya’ showcased its own artistic brilliance through ‘Angahaar’, and, the artistes of Bharati Nrutya Mandir, Bhubaneswar, brought the delicate ‘Bajrakanti Pallavi’.

Adding to the charm, the dancers of Nrutyashala charmed the art lovers with ‘Shivastutee’ and the artistes of Shreemayee Nrutyanusthan showcased ‘Ganga Tarang’.

Under the guidance of Mokshya’s chairperson Dr Sujata Mishra, Rajashree Priyadarshini managed the proceedings of the evening and Chandan Kumar Nayak did the anchoring.

Notably, besides ‘Abhilasaa’, Mokshya organises two more festivals-‘Debasmruti’ and ‘Jugalbandi’, keeping the tradition vibrant and ever-evolving.
