Mukteswar Dance Festival concludes in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The three-day Mukteswar Dance Festival organized by Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, Government of Odisha in association with Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi at the magnificent Mukteswar Temple ended with spellbinding performances of Odissi by renowned Odissi dancers of national and international repute showcasing the varied items of Odissi repertoire.

It was as if the dancing damsels coming alive out of the 10th century AD monument Mukteswar Temple, indisputably one of the most refined and beautiful temples of Odisha.

The evening’s programme was started after lighting the lamp by Guru Dr. Aruna Mohanty, Eminent Odissi Dancer & President, Odisha Sangita Natak Akademi; Prof. Guru Ramhari Das, Eminent Odissi Vocalist & Music Director; Shri Subodh Chandra Acharya, Joint Director, Odia Language, Literature & Culture; Smt. Sikata Das, Chief Executive, GKCM Odissi Research Centre and Shri Prabodh Kumar Rath, Secretary, Odisha Sangita Natak Akademi.

The first programme of the evening was the Chorus in honour of Lord Shiva eulogizing the glory of Lord Shiva presented by Eminent Music Director Matru Prasad Das and his group.

Renowned Odissi dancer Jagyandatta Pradhan started his programme with Abihinaya Karna. The dance was scripted by Dr. Srinivas Ghatuari, music composed by Guru Ramhari Das, Rhythm composed by Guru Dhaneswar Swain and Choreographed by Guru Bichitrananda Swain.

In duet Swarnamayee Behera & Sweekruti Das presented Pallavi set to Raga Jhinjoti and Tala Ektali followed by Madana Manohara Stotra was one of the finest narrative of Srikrishna-Vishnu. The dance was choreographed by Guru Meera Das.

The concluding presentation of concluding evening was a Group Odissi presentation by the students from Nrutya Nilaya led by Swapnarani Sinha.

Their first item was harmony in motion Shabda Ranga set to Raga Ragamalika, Tala Aditala. Concept and rhythm composed by Guru Dhaneswar Swain, music composed by Guru Sukanta Kumar Kundu, and dance choreographed by Guru Swapnarani Sinha followed by Triveni Sangam upholds the sanctity, purity and holiness of Indian Rivers which bring the blish of Salvation. The script & music composed by Guru Prof. Ramhari Das, rhythm composed by Guru Dhaneswar Swain and dance choreographed by Guru Swapnarani Sinha.

The programme was anchored by Dr. (En.) Srinibas Ghatuary and Nazia Alam. Officers/ Staffs from Odia Language, Literature & Culture and Odisha Sangeet Nataka Akademi were co-ordinating during the festival.
