Bhubaneswar: Music lovers of the capital city were treated with evergreen songs of old and new era at Rabindra Mandap on Wednesday.
The musical night titled ‘A Show With Black and White To The Colour Era’ was organised by ‘Nishaad’. The organisation has been organising such musical night since last five years.
After the customary lighting the lamp ceremony attended by guests started the much awaited musical journey.
The students of Louis Braille School for Blind, Bhubaneswar gave a befitting start to the evening. They presented ‘Biswa Jagannath Brahma Jagannath’ with Lipun Barik being the lead singer.
Next Jignasha, the founder of ‘Nishaad’, came onto the stage and presented ‘Rahen Ne Rahen Hum’, from film ‘Mamta’, originally sung by Lata Mangeshkar.
The next song was ‘Neend Na Mojhko Aaye’ from film ‘Post Box No 999’, presented by Jignasha and Ranjit Mohanty. The song was originally sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Hemant Kumar.
The third item of the evening was ‘Pehla Pehla Pyar’ from film ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’. While SP Balasubramaniam originally sung the song, Sudipta Sahu presented it in the evening.
The fourth item was again a song sung by SP Balasubramaniam. K Ramesh presented ‘Pehli Bar Mile Hain’ from film ‘Saajan’.
The following song was an Odia song. Bishnu Charan Nayak presented ‘Rupa Sagadi Re Suna Kania’ from film ‘Jaga Hatare Pagha’, originally sung by Md Aziz.
The star attraction of the evening, Md Nasir came onto the stage to present the sixth and seventh songs of the evening. He presented ‘Tum Bhi Chalo’ from film ‘Zameer’ and ‘Kabhi Hoti Nahin Hai Jiski Haar’ from film ‘Khara Khota’. Both songs were originally sung by Kishore Kumar.
The next singer was Deeprekha who presented ‘Roop Tera Mastana’ and made the audience to sing with her.
Then, two duets were presented by Md Nasir and Jignasha. They first presented ‘Main Tere Pyar Mein Pagal’ from film ‘Prem Bandhan’, originally sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar. Their second duet was ‘Main Duniya Bhula Doonga’ from film ‘Aashiqui’, originally sung by Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal.
The eleventh song of the evening was also a duet presented by Rosy and Sudipta Sahu. They presented ‘Ajnabi Mujhko Itna Bata’, from fim ‘Pyar To Hona Hi Tha’, originally sung by Asha Bhosle and Udit Narayan.
The evening witnessed many more scintillating performances by the singers.
The accompanists who lent the singers a good support Kishore Nayak and Niku on the Keyboard, Prasant Das on the lead guitar, M Kiran Kumar on the Base Guitar, Upendra Nayak on the Pad and Kunu Jena on the Dholak.
