Bhubaneswar: Two-day-long 10th Odissi Nrutya Sangeet Samman festival at Bhanjakala Mandap here concluded Tuesday.
While the first evening was an in-house programme held on Nrutyangana premises at Khandagiri on Monday, the second and concluding evening was organised at Bhanjakala Mandap. The lighting the lamp ceremony was followed by the award giving ceremony. Odissi dance exponent Dr. Snehaprava Samantray was awarded ‘10th Odissi Nrutya Sangeet Samman’. On this occasion, photo journalist Piusha Mohanty was also felicitated.
The cultural evening began with the junior students of the institution presenting Mangalacharan ‘Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu…’. Next, nine disciples of Guru Subash Chandra Swain presented ‘Nabadurga’. The following item was a Pallavi, a pure dance set to raga Bajrakanti and tala EkTaali.
Next, Abhipsa Pati presented an abhinaya ‘Hari aambhara eta…’, a ‘Ha Champu’. Guru Sudarshan Ray and Group’s Gotipua dance enthralled the audience. Kaberi Priyadarshini and Group’s Bihu dance presentation had the audience in thrall. The evening’s concluding item was a ‘Dhemsa’ dance presented by Trilochan Sahu and group.
Among others, writer Prof Dr. Indira Dutt, principal, Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya Dr. Tamasharani Das Mohapatra, senior journalist, The New Indian Express, Kasturi Ray and noted Odissi dancers Sanghamitra Singh, Chapala Mishra, Meenakshi Behera and Itishree Dwibedy attended the event as guests.
