Bhubaneswar: Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department announced the Odisha Lalitkala Akademi’s highest award ‘Dharmapada Puraskar’ for five years, from 2016 to 2020.
The eminent personalities who will receive the award are eminent painter Bana Bihari Parida (2016), known sculptor Shyamsundar Pattanayak (2017), eminent painter Jagdish Chandra Kanungo (2018), known pattachitra painter Bonod Maharana (2019) and renowned painter Mahendra Prasad Mahapatra (2020).
These five artists are receiving the prestigious award for their lifetime achievements. The award carries a purse of Rs 5 lakh, a copper citation and a shawl.
At the same time, names of 25 personalities were announced for felicitation for five years. They will each get Rs 1 lakh, a copper citation and a shawl.
The announced personalities will be felicitated on November 29.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi announced the names of awardees at the conference hall of Odisha Lalitkala Akademi in presence of director, Culture Department, Ranjan Kumar Das; president, Odisha Lalitkala Akademi, Padmashree Sudarshan Patnaik and secretary Gajendra Sahu.
