Odissi exponent Guru Sujata Mohapatra to receive Nrityarghya Award

Kolkata: The 12th edition of Srijan’s annual function ‘Nrityarghya’ is all set to be held at Rabindra Bhawan, Rajpur Sonarpur, Kolkata in West Bengal from 5 pm onwards on January 28.

This year, Srijan, a premier dance institution established by young and talented Odissi dancer Biswajit Chakraborty in 2010, will felicitate eminent Odissi dancer Guru Sujata Mohapatra with ‘Nrityarghya’ award.

It is worth mentioning here that Biswajit is a disciple of Guru Sujata Mohapatra.

While the festival this year will witness 10 to 12 scintillating performances, mostly the choreographies of legendary Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and Guru Ratikant Mohapatra, the attraction of the evening will be ‘Shree Ram Chandra Kripalu Bhajman’, an Odissi recital choreographed by Biswajit. In this item, the well trained dancers of the institution will depict the episodes of Ramayan like Lord Ram’s childhood days, Sita’s Swayamvar, Her abduction by Ravan and Ravan badh.
