Bhubaneswar: The second evening of the Odissi Sangeet Mahotsav, organized by Sangeet Sudhakar Balakrushna Das Foundation, was a mesmerizing experience, with over a hundred vocalists presenting soul-stirring renditions of Raga Sangeet, Bhavanga, and Natyaangi.
The festival, which featured morning, afternoon, and evening sessions, saw the participation of numerous talented artistes, who enthralled the audience with their musical performances.
The evening commenced with an enchanting presentation by artistes from Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, who performed the composition “Yamuna Kule Kalia Kede Hata Kala Ma” based on Raga Nata. This was followed by a solo performance by Mahaprasad Kar, who rendered “Mo Bhale Thila Ki” from the works of the renowned poet Kabisurya Baladev Rath.
Dr. Nazia Alam captivated the audience with the Bhavanga-based rendition of “Chahan Chahan Re Bandhu”, while Ras Bihari Nath beautifully presented Raga Bageshree.Anuja Tarini Mishra’s rendition of Raga Bajrakanti and Harapriya Swain’s soulful performance of Raga Baradi were among the highlights of the evening.
Other notable performers included Jaladhar Pradhan, Achyuta Maharana, Pratibha Pradhan, and Sandhyarani Rout, who added to the evening’s grandeur with their vocal expertise.
The stage was efficiently managed by Dr. Mrutyunjay Rath and Professor Lokanath Mohanty.
The evening’s special guests included Sudhiranjan Mishra, an official from PPL, and Sangram Keshari Swain, Special Secretary of the Department of Steel and Mines, Government of Odisha, who inaugurated the evening by lighting the auspicious lamp.
The event was also attended by foundation’s president Manoranjan Panigrahi, secretary Guru Ramahari Das, vice president Guru Keshab Chandra Rout, Guru Dr. Sachikanta Nayak, and Guru Nimakanta Routray.
The festival, which is celebrating its silver jubilee year this year, continues to celebrate the rich heritage of Odissi music, bringing together a blend of tradition and talent on a grand platform.
