Ollywood fraternity prays for melody king Abhijit Majumdar’s speedy recovery

Bhubaneswar: In a touching show of solidarity, the Ollywood fraternity on Tuesday came together, lit lamps and offered prayers at Ram Mandir here for the speedy recovery of Odisha’s very own ‘Melody King’ Abhijit Majumdar, who is battling for life at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

Known for weaving magic with his tunes and enchanting listeners with his soulful compositions, Abhijit da, as he is fondly called, is now in a coma.

The collective prayer witnessed the presence of Odisha Film Distribution Syndicate Secretary Sachikanta Jena, producers Sridhar Martha, Jubilee Sundaray, dialogue writer Dr. Rajani Ranjan, director Gadadhar Putty, media planner Pranaya Jethi, along with artistes Shritam Das, Vivekananda Barik, Sanjay Bhatt, Khageswar Jayapuria, influencer Prakash Nayak, choreographer Lubun, actress Ankita, Priya Ranjan Mohanty, singers Anshuman Nayak and Antariksha Nayak, and several others.

Some artistes were seen reciting the ‘Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra’, seeking divine intervention for the ailing maestro.

Speaking with one voice, Ollywood insiders said, “Abhijit Majumdar is a household name in Odisha. His illness has pained us all. We earnestly pray for his recovery so that he may return to music and continue his melodious journey.”

Fans across Odisha, and from outside Odisha as well, too are joining in prayer, hoping that the man who once gave them numerous songs to hum will soon regain his health and create his magic.

Notably, State Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling also visited AIIMS Bhubaneswar recently to take stock of Majumdar’s health condition and the treatment being provided.
