OTDMC’s 23rd annual festival, a visual treat

Chittagong: The two-day-long 23rd annual Odissi dance festival of Chittagong based Odissi and Tagore Dance Movement Centre (OTDMC) concluded at Theatre Institute of Chittagong Auditorium in Chittagong on January 14.

The festival was inaugurated by former Vice Chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University, West Bengal, Professor Dr Pabitra Sarkar.

After the customary lighting the lamp ceremony, 200 students of the institution presented beautiful cultural programmes.

The second evening witnessed felicitation of three noted personalities. While former Vice Chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University, West Bengal, Professor Dr Pabitra Sarkar was felicitated with Lifetime Achievement Award, essayist, researcher and Professor of Department of Bangla, University of Chittagong, Dr Mohibul Aziz and journalist and reciter, Mrs Manisha Pal Chowdhury were awarded with Shilpo Shomannona 2023.

Next, Director of Odissi and Tagore Dance Movement Centre, Proma Abonti and her disciples presented some scintillating Odissi performances, leaving the audience glued to their seats. They presented Mangalacharan, Batu, Yagmadanda Pallavi, Arvi Pallavi, Saveri Pallavi and Moksha. They also presented Rabindra Nritya and dance recital on Bhajan.

Worth mentioning, Odissi and Tagore Dance Movement Centre was set up in 2001.
