Bhubaneswar: Padma Shri Guru Mayadhar Rout is the recipient of Saptashajya Samman 2020. Programme director, Saptashajya Festival, Gourishankar Dash announced this.
Veteran Odia film actor Prashant Nanda and eminent vocalist Guru Dr Gopal Chandra Panda will also be honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award for acting and music respectively.
The trio will be felicitated on the inaugural evening of 6th Saptashajya Festival. The three-day long festival is going online this year due to prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, starting December 24.
While informing about the festival, Dash pointed out that Dr Sangita Gosain, Shantilata Chhotray, Dr Anusaya Nath, Dr Adyasa Das, Sailabhama Mohapatra, Susmita Das, Rojalina Dash, Chhanda Mishra, Jayashree Dhala, Minakshi Behera, Gayatri Chand, Dr Gajendra Panda, Prativa Panda, Dr Manoj Behera and Guru Bichitrananda Swain are the attractions of this year’s festival.
Dash also requested art lovers and dance connoisseurs to join the festival virtually on December 24, 25 and 26 from 7.00pm onwards.
Notably, Padma Shri Kumkum Mohanty, Padma Shri Minati Mishra, Padma Shri Aruna Mohanty, Padma Shri Ileana Citaristi and Padma Shri Geeta Mahalik were the recipients of Saptashajya Samman for the years 2015, 16, 17, 18 and 19 respectively.
Devanshi Dance Academy, a Dhenkanal based dance institution with a branch in Bhubaneswar, has been organising the festival.
