Bhubaneswar: Panchamaveda, one of the premier theatre groups in Odisha, observed it’s 22nd edition of annual festival at Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar on October 10.
Odia Language, Literature and Culture department’s director Dilip Routray and Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi’s secretary Prabodh Rath, who attended the evening as esteemed guests, inaugurated the evening by lighting the auspicious lamp. Then began the felicitation ceremony. Both guests felicitated nine personalities with Sanskruti Mitra Samman for their contributions to the art world. The recipients were Dr Narendra Mishra, Sangram Keshari Swain, Laxmidhara Pujapanda, Raghunath Behera, Surendra Padhi, Dr Srinivas Ghatuary, Kishore Chandra Dehury, Sucheta Priyadarshini and Bandana Sethi.
On this occasion, Panchamaveda staged a play titled ‘Kalantara’, written by Kunja Ray and Directed by Prakash Maharana. The play was staged under the supervision of Haren Sahu, the founder of Panchamveda.
The play was about the time when the transition from Dwapar Yuga to Kali Yuga was taking place, when Lord Krishna’s Yaduvansh was destroying and when Lord Krishna was leaving this world. All the artistes tried their level best to give justice to their respective characters. Pratap Rout’s music, Bijayant Das’s stage design and Bikas Pradhan’s light design made the play more enjoyable. The play was staged to a packed audience.
