Bhubaneswar: Panchamveda, one of the premier theatre organisations in the State is going to organise it’s 17th State Level Natak Mahotsav and Panchamveda Award Festival-2021 from March 14 to 18. The venue for the event is Bhanjakala Mandap here in capital city.
Originally written by Sailesh Guha Niyogi and translated by Dillishwar Maharana, ‘Abhinetri’ will be the inaugural play. Bhubaneswar based theatre troupe Dynamic Platform will stage the play. Debabrata Pattanayak is its director.
The second evening will witness staging of play ‘Highway Kila’, staged by Kalinga Kala Parishad, a Rourkela based theatre troupe. The play is written by Dr Sanjay Hati and directed by Umashankar Pand.
Bhubaneswar based theatre troupe Vidyakanak Srujanusthan will stage ‘Ali Alok Albert’ on the third evening. The play is written by Dillip Balabantray and directed by Jagdish Prasad Maharana.
Similarly, the fourth evening’s play is Fakir Mohan Senapati’s ‘Hata Bahuda’ by Srashta, a Balasore based theatre organisation. Hemendra Mahapatra is its director.
Magic Theatre, Bhubaneswar will stage ‘Somrasa’ on the concluding evening of the festival. The play is written and directed by Prajnya Khatua.
This year ‘Amiya Patnaik Smruti Samman’, an award instituted in 2019 in the memory of Panchamveda’s president late Amiya Patnaik, will be conferred on Nrusingha Mohanty, a theatre, film and television artiste.
Similarly, actor and astrologer Pramod Satpathy, playwright Hemendra Mahapatra, theatre director Sudhanshu Dwibedy, music director Manmath Mishra and actress Namita Bhattacharya will be felicitated with ‘Panchamveda Samman 2021’ on the closing day of the festival.
