Photo exhibition ‘Chitrabarnali’ inaugurated in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The fifth edition of annual photography exhibition ‘Chitrabarnali’ was inaugurated at Lalit Kala Akademi, Bhubaneswar on Monday.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) mayor Sulochana Das, former Mumbai police commissioner Arup Patnaik, Bhubaneswar Central MLA Ananta Narayan Jena and corporator Ranjulata Roy.

Organised by Srikrishna Das, founder and Managing Trustee of the Utkala Photography Foundation Trust, the exhibition is showcasing as many as 120 photographs captured by 20 photographers, featuring diverse range of works like wildlife, bird, landscape, street and macro.

This year, for the first time, painting and craft have been introduced with around 20 paintings by Srabani Kumari Bisoi and Suchismita Gharei and over 15 crafts by Padmalaya Das on the display. While Suchismita is running an outlet ‘Kalaprakrata’ Srabani and Padmalaya are counting on their insta accounts to reach out to customers.

On the inaugural day, the exhibition witnessed a good number of footfall and the visitors heaped praise on the organiser and his team.

Regarding the aim of the exhibition, organiser Das said, “Our objective is to create more and more photographers, bring the state’s rich biodiversity, lesser-known tourist spots to the fore, highlight them and put them on the world map.”

The exhibition will remain open till March 23, from 11.30 AM to 7.30 PM.
