Cuttack: The Kala Bikash Kendra auditorium here came alive as Angika, one of the premiere Odissi institutions in Odisha, rolled out its vibrant ‘Nabarasa Dance Festival 2025’ on Sunday.
The festival began with an auspicious note with lighting the ceremonial lamp by dignitaries like CMC Corporator and BJP Yuva Morcha secretary Gagan Kumar Ojha, noted educationist Smt Madhuchhanda Mishra, Odissi dance Guru Ashish Das and sitarist Guru Swapneswar Chakraborty.
In their addresses, the guests heaped praises on Angika for its year-round dedication to nurturing young Odissi dancers and providing them with a platform to showcase their talents. They also extend their best wishes for the institution’s continued growth and success. Mementoes and certificates were presented to the artistes participated in cultural programmes.
The evening that followed was a feast for senses. Senior dancers of Angika cast a spell on the audience with soul-stirring performances of ‘Pallavi’, ‘Rudrashtakam’ and ‘Dasabattara’ while the junior performers added colour to the evening with lively Sambalpuri and modern dance numbers.
The festival was helmed by Angika’s founder-cum-secretary Guru Smt Shrabani Mitra with smooth coordination by Odissi dancers Mallika Mitra and Bhaktilata Ram.
The event’s proceedings were deftly anchored by Biswajit Baliarsingh.
