Bhubaneswar: An evening of intellectual discourse and literary celebration unfolded at Gita Govinda Sadan auditorium on Friday as Sarala Smaraki organised the Ganesh Parija Memorial Lecture Evening to mark the 27th Smruti Diwas of noted researcher and litterateur Ganesh Prasad Parija.
The programme brought together eminent personalities, scholars and literature enthusiasts. Sambad and Ama Odisha chairman Soumya Ranjan Patnaik attended as the chief guest and chartered accountant Sarat Chandra Bhadra as the guest of honour.
On this occasion, noted speaker and historian Professor Dr Soma Chand delivered the memorial lecture titled ‘Shaakta Darshanare Dasamahavidya’, explaining that the worship of goddess Durga forms an integral part of the Shakta tradition and philosophy. The ten manifestations of the Goddess, she said, convey profound messages aimed at the welfare and betterment of humankind.
The programme was presided over by eminent literature and speaker Dash Benhur. The evening also witnessed the presentation of ‘9th Ganesh Parija Samman’ and ‘3rd Ganesh Parija Galpa Samman’ to eminent researcher Dr Gopalkrushna Dash and young story writer Dr Trupti Ranjan Das respectively, recognising their contributions to research and literature.
Sarala Smaraki secretary Deba Prasad Parija fondly remembered his father and reflected on his enduring contribution to literature and research.
The programme concluded with a vote of tahnks proposed by Sarala Smaraki coordinator poet Nilima Pattanayak.
