Bhubaneswar: The two-day long annual festival of Suryajyoti Kala Kendra kicked off on a high note at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar, on Saturday.
The inaugural evening was graced by Additional Commissioner of Income Tax Department Ashutosh Pradhan, Pollachi Tamil Isai Sangam’s manager Kalimuthu A, Pancham Music Academy’s secretary Dibya Ranjan Pattanayak, president Rabindra Kumar Jena and vice president Manas Ranjan Sahu who inaugurated the evening by lighting the auspicious lamp.
The occasion also marked the unveiling of the institution’s souvenir, Souryaprava.
The spotlight was then shifted to the felicitation ceremony. Padma Shri recipient Guru Durga Charan Ranbir was felicitated with Souryaprava Samman in recognition of his lifelong dedication to the arts.
The cultural evening commenced with senior dancers of the host institution presenting ‘Neelachala Nibasaya’, invoking Lord Jagannath. The performances gathered momentum with pieces like ‘Dashavatar’, ‘Saraswati Mangalacharan’, ‘Jaya Bhagabati Devi’, and ‘Ganga Tarang’, each leaving the audience captivated.
Smoothly anchored by Dr. (Er) Srinivas Ghatuary, the evening flowed seamlessly under the able stewardship of director Suryakant Swain and secretary Jyotirmayee Das, making it a truly memorable celebration of art and culture.
