Utkalika Samman announced

Berhampur: Utkalika Nrutyanusthana, a premier Odissi dance institution based in Berhampur, Ganjam, Odisha, has announced the names of the recipients of Utkalika Samman and Utkalika Yuva Pratibha Samman for the year 2022.

While Utkalika Samman will be presented to Guru Simanchal Das, Utkalika Yuva Pratibha Samman will be bestowed upon talented Odissi dancer Gayatri Ranbir, daughter and disciple of Guru Durgacharan Ranbir, for her  dedication and determination towards Odissi dance.

They will be felicitated at the institution’s 3rd Nrutyameba Jayate festival (7th Foundation Day celebration), to be held at Sanskruti Bhawan, Hillpatna, Berhampur on October 8.

Due to pandemic, the festival was organised virtually for two years, 2020 and 2021. So, this year, the recipients of  Utkalika Samman for those two years will also be felicitated. They are Guru Durgacharan Ranbir and Guru Pt K Ramarao Patra, informed Sekhar Suman Majhi, founder and director of Nrutyameba Jayate.

While the festival will showcase new choreographies of S S Majhi, it will also provide a platform to new, budding classical and folk dancers.
