Bengaluru: Arka Kala Foundation is all set to present ‘Tasmai Shri Gurave Namaha’, a day-long celebration dedicated to the timeless Guru–Shishya Parampara, at Meenakshi Rangamanch, Bengaluru, on August 8.
Curated by Bharatanatyam exponent Guru Bhanu Priya Rakesh, Founder and Artistic Director of Arka Kala Foundation, the festival pays tribute to the gurus who have contributed immensely to the art world, passing the torch from one generation to the next.
The festival is spread over two sessions-morning and evening-each reflecting the enduring bond between teacher and disciple.
The morning session ‘Arka Guru Vandana’, beginning at 9.30 AM, will witness Karnataka Kalashree Guru Smt. Revathi Narasimhan’s disciples from Natyaniketan paying heartfelt tribute to their mentor through their performances. Adding to the celebrations, Guru Bhanu Priya Rakesh and the students of Arka Kala Kuteera, accompanied by a live orchestra, will present a special dance presentation.
The entry to the morning session is free.
The evening session, beginning 5.30 pm, features two distinguished presentations by eminent artistes. The first ‘Varsha Ritu’, is an evocative production by Acharya Smt. Indira Kadambi with the Ambalam ensemble celebrating the beauty and spirit of the monsoon.
This will be followed by ‘Anubandha – The Eternal Bond’ by an acclaimed Kuchipudi duet by Guru Smt. Vaijayanti Kashi and Pratiksha Kashi, portraying the eternal bond between generations.
More than just a festival, ‘Tasmai Shri Gurave Namaha’ is a heartfelt celebration of India’s rich artistic heritage.
Bringing together revered Gurus, accomplished artistes, musicians, students, and connoisseurs, the event shines a spotlight on the enduring values of the Guru–Shishya tradition and its relevance in today’s world.
