National Theatre Festival to begin in Odisha’s Bhawanipatna on Dec 9

Bhawanipatna: Four-day National Theatre Festival 2022 is all set to begin in Bhawanipatna town for theatre lovers. The event, Natyarashmi Prafulla Rath Smaraki National Theatre Festival, organised by Bhawanipatna based Smaraki Natya Sanstha, will be held at Town Hall in the town from December 9.

Each evening there will be a guest theatre group to entertain the theatre lovers.

On the inaugural evening, Rangashram from Kolkata will stage a play titled ‘Atmadaha’, written by Tarit Mishra and directed by Sadipti Bhattacharya. On the second evening, Bhopal-based theatre organization Kit Actor Studio will stage ‘Rang Rasia’, written and directed by Saheb Nitis.

Similarly, on the third evening, play ‘Agarbati’ will be staged by Samagam Rang Mandal from Jabalpur. The play is written by Ashish Pathak and directed by Swati Dubey. On the concluding evening, a Guwahati-based theatre organization Tiljaja Kaplan Natyagosthi will present ‘Ekakiter Dinlipi’, which is written by Debesh Thakur and directed by Kalpana Barua.

On this occasion, theatre actors belonging to different generations will also be felicitated. They are Surya Narayan Shukla, Laxminarayan Dutt, Artatrana Sahu, Sushil Gahir and Pushpanjali Deep.
